Nephew kills Uncle to take revenge for father’s murder, arrested

Varanasi (UP): A man was arrested for allegedly murdering his uncle as revenge killing in the Cant area here on Thursday, police sources said.

“Accused Farid alias Jugunu, 41, resident of Chhotalalpur, under the Cant police station of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended from Makbul Alam road near Aaykar Bhawan in the area, following a tip-off”, Abhimanyu Manglik, Circle Officer (CO) of Cant area said.

The incident took place on November 21, near Jugunu’s house, where Shahid, 45, came for some work. In the meantime, after some dispute and altercation with him, Farid allegedly shot him dead and fled from the spot, a police officer said adding that he had been absconding since then.

He apprised, “On electronic surveillance and a tip off that the accused is present on Makbul Alam road and planning to flee somewhere else, a police team raided the site and arrested him.”.

During interrogation, Farid accepted the crime and disclosed that after the incident, he fled to Nepal, where his money ran out after a few days. On Thursday, he came here to collect money from home, police claimed.

According to a police officer, the accused, while accepting crime said that he had taken pledge to kill uncle, Shahid to avenge the murder of his father (Majid Khan), about 28 years ago in 1992, when he was only 13. Farid alleges that his father was murdered by uncle Shahid.

In order to carry out the incident, the accused managed a ‘Katta’ (country-made pistol) and two cartridges from Pinku Singh, a resident of Majmitiya, five years ago and has been waiting for an opportunity since then, police claimed.

A country-made pistol of .315 bore and a ‘khoka’ cartridge, which was used in the crime, have been recovered on the input provided by the accused from Goithahan, Varanasi, the CO said.

The police had registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Arms Act in Cant police station.
